Why hardware decides the quality of furniture
A kitchen door opens dozens of times a day. Over five years that is tens of thousands of cycles. This is why the first thing to fail in furniture is usually not the carcass or the front but the mechanism: the hinge drops, the door sits crooked, the drawer pulls out noisily and needs force.
The main job of good hardware is exactly this - stability of movement over time. It holds its adjustment, distributes the weight of the front and keeps the door in the position it had on installation day.
That is why in our projects the hardware choice is discussed alongside the material choice, not after it. Every project starts by going through the options from both proven brands.
Blum - Austrian premium class
Blum is an Austrian manufacturer and belongs to the premium segment of furniture hardware. Its defining characteristic is the quality of movement: the soft-close mechanism stops the door quietly and evenly over the last centimetres, and telescopic runners open a drawer to its full depth without a hint of grinding.
The lift systems for upper cabinets deserve a separate mention: the door rises vertically and stops at an intermediate position, so it does not get in the way while you work in the kitchen.
Blum costs more than GTV and that shows directly in the project budget. We choose it where furniture is used particularly intensively - in kitchens with many drawers, or where fronts are heavy and the load on the mechanism is high.
GTV - a dependable, high-technology alternative
GTV manufactures high-technology hardware offering the same types of solution at a more accessible price: soft-close hinges, telescopic runners and lift mechanisms.
In practice GTV is entirely sufficient for most projects - wardrobes, children's and office furniture, living room compositions, where the number of drawers and the frequency of opening are lower than in a kitchen.

Where each is justified
The kitchen is the most heavily loaded zone: heavy fronts, deep drawers full of pots, lift mechanisms on upper cabinets. This is where money spent on premium hardware pays off most.
In wardrobes the main load falls on the hinges, particularly on tall full-height fronts. What matters most here is calculating the number of hinges correctly: that, rather than the brand alone, decides whether a door will drop over time.
In children's furniture soft-close mechanisms have a particular value - they reduce the risk of trapped fingers. In office furniture and reception desks the priorities are full drawer extension and lockable sections.

Minor adjustment over time is normal, especially in new buildings where the structure settles during the first years. It is not a defect and is easily corrected.
Everything we build carries a written five-year warranty covering both the structure and the hardware. Under warranty the call-out, diagnosis and repair are free. This is precisely why we do not work with cheap, unknown hardware: it creates a problem for the client first and for our warranty second.
